  • Hash Bash – The Diag, Ann Arbor: 4/2, 11am-11pm; I had to mention it. If you are 21+ and enjoy the freedom available in Michigan to legally purchase and smoke marijuana, this event is for you! Hash bash features speakers, live music, art, and vendors.
  • FestiFools – downtown Ann Arbor: 4/3, 4pm; Dress up in costumes and grab a kazoo to celebrate during Ann Arbor’s annual FestiFools parade!
  • Unicorn Festival – Unicorn Feed & Supply: 4/9, 2-5pm; Celebrate National Unicorn Day with Michigan’s very own unicorn festival!
  • National Trout Festival – Kalkaska: 4/20-24; Celebrate trout and community in northwest Michigan! Festival events include fishing contests (of course), a pizza eating contest, car show, parade, concerts, and more.
  • Kalamazoo Marathon – 4/22-24: The Kalamazoo Marathon is back this year! Register for the half marathon, 10k, 5k, or 5k walk or show up to cheer on the runners!
  • Annual Governor’s Breakfast – Wexford Civic Center, Cadillac: 4/22, 9-11am; Enjoy a continental breakfast with the Governor and local Chamber of Commerce to honor the area’s local civic and business accomplishments over the past year. Tickets are $40 per person.
  • Plow Day – Tillers International, Scotts: 4/30, 11am-4pm; Step back in time and watch how tilling agricultural fields were done “back in the day” – by teams of horses and oxen! This free event will also showcase traditional blacksmithing and woodworking skills.

This list of Easter Events in Michigan doesn’t even scratch the surface of the number of Easter Egg Hunts exist in Michigan! But perhaps you’ll want to participate in a new hunt this year? If so, here are a number of Easter events taking place all over Michigan.

  • Bavarian Easter Celebration – Frankenmuth: April; Throughout the month of April, Frankenmuth transforms into Franconia, Germany with brightly colored trees, buildings and fountains in celebration of Easter.
  • Community Easter Egg Hunt – Vibrant Life Senior Living, Temperance: 4/2, 10-12pm; Bring your own basket and gather the eggs. If you find one of the golden eggs, you’ll win a scooter!
  • Easter Craft & Vendor Show – The Ellison Place, Gaylord: 4/2, 10-3pm; Show up early as the first 50 guests receive a goodie bag with coupons, samples, and more from vendors. The Easter bunny will also be attending for photos! Check out all the unique, local goodies to fill up Easter baskets with!
  • Adult 21+ Easter Egg Hunt – Creasey Bicentennial Park: Grand Blanc: 4/8, 6:45pm; Why do kids get to have all the fun? Check out this adults only Easter Egg hunt for a chance to win some grown up prizes. Attendance is $15 per person.
  • Troy Historic Village Egg Hunt: 4/8 & 9; Register to attend Troy’s egg hunt which includes crafts and an I spy game to find the Easter eggs resulting in winning prizes! It’s $7 for members, $8 for non members.
  • Easter Egg Hunt – Riverside Elementary, Battle Creek: 4/9, noon; Get your family’s photo with the Easter bunny, decorate eggs, play games, enjoy the bounce house, and of course show up for the Easter egg hunt!
  • Downtown Alpena Easter Egg Hunt: 4/9, 11-2pm; Easter eggs will be hidden outdoors throughout downtown. Each participant who finds ten eggs can turn them in during the event at Culligan Plaza for a special spring-themed goody bag for kids.
  • Zehnder’s Easter Bunny Breakfast, Frankenmuth: 4/9, 9am; Enjoy an Easter Breakfast with the Easter bunny! Plus there will be a show and gift for the kids. Advanced purchase of $22 per person required.
  • Easter Teacup Luncheon – Holly Hotel: 4/9, 12pm; Attend the Historic Holly Hotel’s annual three-course luncheon tea include a complimentary vintage cup and saucer to take home as a keepsake of your visit.
  • Bunny Bop : 4/9, 9:30 – 1:30pm; Hop on over for a photo visit with a special bunny, craft projects and egg hunt with toys and candy stuffed eggs and a few other surprises. Bring your own basket for filling with candy and prizes. Youth will be broken down by age for equal opportunity hunting for all. Pre-registration required.
  • Downtown Gaylord Easter Hop: 4/9, 11:30-1pm; Bring your kids to check out the stores in downtown Gaylord. The can collect candy-filled plastic eggs from participating businesses and visits with the Easter Bunny! Check out each egg before heading home as some are filled with special prizes.
  • Easter Egg Hunt – Sportsman’as Port, Wellston: 4/9, 1pm; With over a thousand eggs to find, games, snacks, and a special guest, join for an afternoon of fun!
  • Easter Bunny Lunch – Bavarian Inn Restaurant: 4/10, 10:30-12pm; Enjoy a meal with the Easter bunny! For $40 per person, (reservations required), you’ll also receive balloon art, magic show, coloring page and crayons, a gift from the Easter Bunny.
  • Detroit Zoo Bunnyville – Royal Oak: 4/15, 9-3pm; Two days of “egg-cellent” fun are planned for Bunnyville, the Detroit Zoo’s springtime celebration including egg hunt, zoo stations, free bunny ears, photo booth, and more!
  • Easter Egg Hunt – Kal-Haven Outpost: 4/16, 10-12:30pm; The hunt will be located in the back of the property on the group site. There are two separate hunts: One hunt for the little kids 2-6years old, starting at 10:30 am. One hunt for the bigger kids 7-12 years old, starting at 11am. It is $5 per child to hunt, all eggs will have prizes/candy! There will be 5 eggs in each hunt with “tickets” for bigger prizes!
  • Easter Egg Hunt – Washington Park, Cheboygan: 4/16, 10am; If you have a little age 8 and under attend the egg hunt at Washington Park, 9 and up, go to Major City Park to hunt for Easter Eggs. This event is free.
  • Easter Extravaganza – Frugthaven Farm, Greenville: 4/16, 11-12pm; Show up to this free event where participants can go on an Easter egg hunt, giveaways, and more.
  • Great Village Easter Egg Hunt – Spring Lake: 4/16, all day: Visit downtown Spring Lake to search for eggs full of candy or other prizes. This event is open to everyone of all ages!
  • Easter Egg Hunt – Cornwell’s Turkeyville: 4/16, 10-12pm; Preregister only to participate. Kids are broken up into age groups to hunt for eggs filled with candy and special prizes!
  • Easter Eggstravaganza – Maple Grove Park, Lake City: 4/16, 11:30-2pm; Participate in a massive Easter Egg hunt with over 30,000 eggs! There will also be prizes, food, and drinks.
  • Brooklyn’s Community Wide Easter Egg Hunt – Heart O’ the Lakes Church: 4/16, 10am; Hunt for Eggs, win prizes, and more! Everyone welcome!
  • Bonnet Easter Parade and Egg Hunt – Downtown Douglas: 4/17, 1pm; Enjoy this annual parade and Easter Egg hunt in downtown Douglas.
  • Easter Egg Hunt – East Park, Charlevoix: 4/17, 2-3pm; Kids are split up into age groups to hunt for the 4500 prize filled eggs.
  • Marshall Easter Egg Hunt – Honolulu House Museum: 4/17, 2-4pm; Sign up to be part of the Easter Egg Hunt, sessions are happening every 30 minutes to keep the crowds low and to allow everyone to find a prize!
  • Model Passover Seder – Lakeshore Museum Center, Muskegon: 4/23, 1-2pm; Learn about the Israelite journey to freedom and taste traditional foods and learn about their symbolism.

Maple Syrup Festivals

April is the month for more maple syrup festivals and fresh maple syrup tapped from trees further north. Check out the below maple syrup events in Michigan this month!

  • Maple Syrup Open House – Parsons Centennial Farm, Charlevoix: 4/2, 11-3pm; Take a little tour to learn about their maple syrup making process, enjoy refreshments, and purchase Harwood Gold products.
  • Vermontville Maple Syrup Festival – Vermontville: Last full weekend of April; While many maple syrup events occur in March, Michigan’s oldest maple syrup festival happens at the end of April. This festival is an annual tradition starting out back in 1940. Wander through the village and shop from local maple syrup producers. Or take advantage of the carnival rides, flea market, petting zoo, parades, and much more!
  • Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival – Shepherd: 4/21-24; An annual tradition, Shepherd welcomes visitors and locals alike to its festival held every year since 1958 to enjoy the locally tapped maple syrup with a pancake breakfast, carnival, arts & crafts show, helicopter rides, band, petting zoo, parade, tractor pull and more!

Earth Day Events in Michigan

Michigan is a state with prime ecological importance. It is home to one of the world’s top sources of fresh water. We as Michiganders have a big responsibility to take care of our lakes to not just keep them looking beautiful, but to keep them clean. Consider participating in an Earth Day event this month!

  • Earth Day Runway Show – Creative 360, Midland: 4/22, 6:30-8pm; Celebrate the creativity of the Midland community by watching this wearable art Earth Day runway show!
  • Earth Day – Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids: 4/23, 1-4pm; This children focused celebration includes nature walks, interactive stories, live Michigan animal demonstrations, and a collaborative nature weaving on our giant weaving loom.
  • Earth Day Lakeshore Celebration – Central Park, Grand Haven: 4/23, 1-4pm; Enjoy an all green parade (no fossil fuel vehicles used!) followed by food, live music, art for kids, and free horse drawn wagon rides.
  • Jackson Earth Day Celebration – Sparks Foundation County Park, Jackson: 4/23, 1-4pm; Enjoy live music, animal encounters, family activities and more during this free event.
  • Ludington Earth Day – Ludington United Methodist Church: 4/23, 10:30-4:30 pm; Watch presentations, bid in a silent auction, go on a guided nature tour, learn about composting and get the kids involved in crafts and activities during Ludington’s annual Earth Day event organized by nonprofit AFFEW.
  • Earth Day Fair – Goodells County Park: 4/29 & 30; This is Michigan’s largest Earth Day Fair! The goal of this annual event is to raise the level and capacity of environmental stewards to the thousands through demonstrations, workshops, exhibits, artisans, and activities.
  • Green-a-thon – Portage City Hall: 5/1, 11am-3pm; This earth day event is free and includes a sneak peak into the upcoming farmers market season! Show up to learn more about environmental ideas you can use in your home or business along with entertainment, games, and more!

Spring Festivals

If March was too cold to celebrate the coming of spring, hopefully one of these spring festivals is warmer for you to enjoy!

  • Mackinaw City Meltdown – Mackinaw City: 4/1-15; Celebrate spring in Mackinaw City by taking advantage of travel specials to kickstart the tourism season in Northern Michigan! There’s also a fancy gala and the taste of Mackinaw.
  • Southfield Spring-a-ling: 4/8, 4-6:30pm; Enjoy parking lot performances, a visit with the Easter bunny handing out goodie bags, a petting zoo and more. This event is $5 for residents and $10 for visitors.
  • Festival of the Angry Bear – Ore Dock Brewing Company, Marquette: 4/9, 3pm-midnight; Modeled after some of the great beer festivals of Europe, the festival is a showcase of barrel-aged beer, live music, and delicious food. Attendance is free.
  • Spring Festival – Kensington Metropark: 4/24, 12-4pm; Tour the parks farm and see all the new spring babies!
  • Up North Arts Spring Art Show and Lollapalooza – Up North Arts, Cadillac: 4/28-5/1; This family friendly free attraction includes art activities for all ages, food, games, and more!
  • Art in April – downtown Monroe: 4/28, 5:30-8pm; This FREE event will feature a self-guided tour of art displays. Local businesses will be offering snacks, beverages, and give aways throughout the night.
  • Daffodil Dayz – Bessemer VFW: 4/30, 9-2pm; This spring time extravaganza features favorite crafters, direct vendors, a Gogebic County 4H Youth plants and bake sale, drink and lunch specials, and raffles.

Science Festivals

Along with spring comes… science?! Apparently so! April is a month where science is celebrated in several Michigan locations!

  • MSU Science Festival – Lansing: The entire month of April is MSU’s annual free science festival with family friendly events that cover all science related topics, this is one festival you don’t want to miss. And lasting the whole month, you’re bound to be able to attend at least one day! Click on the link to search for events to attend based on scientific discipline, age group, date, and more parameters.
  • Jackson County Science Fest – Columbia Central High School, Brooklyn: 4/9, 12-3pm; If you have a student who’s in Kindergarten up to 7th grade, come visit this science festival! A variety of interactive science experiments will be conducted!
  • International Migratory Bird Festival – Copper Harbor: Through the month of April stretching into May, the Keweenaw Peninsula is abuzz with migrating birds. Celebrate and learn more through a series of programs, dinners and birding activities.

Food & Drink Festivals

If you’re a foodie looking to visit the mitten state in April, below are annual food and drink festivals to enjoy!

  • Beerfest at the Ball Park – Jackson Field, Lansing: 4/30, 3-10pm; Tickets start at $45 and get you 8 tasting tickets along with appetizers. There will be over 300+ types of beer, cider, hard seltzer, mead, spirits & wine available to choose from.
  • Starkbierfest – Cedar Springs Brewing: 4/17, 3-9pm; Celebrate during the second biggest German beer festival of the year! New beers are released and German food is served. Tickets are $10 and get you 2 food/drink tickets.
  • Lift Your Spirits Tasting Event – Bay Harbor Lodge: 4/22, 2pm; The first annual Lift Your Spirits event was founded with the intention of lifting the spirits of Michiganders from the cold winter months into the arrival of spring. From 2-5pm, be part of the tasting event and try a selection of distilled spirits. Then from 6-9pm, enjoy the 5-course fine dining experience in a speak easy like setting.
  • Midland Restaurant Week – April 25-May 7: Dine on creative, local fare during Midland’s annual two week restaurant week!
