Saugatuck Scavenger Hunt

Saugatuck Scavenger Hunt Cover Image with 4 pictures of public art and interesting things noticed in Saugatuck

Recently, my family and I traveled to Saugatuck, a beach town along Lake Michigan we visit a few times each year. As we walked around the adorable downtown, I kept noticing things I never spotted before. Where they new? Some yes, but many I just never slowed down enough to take the time to notice. I’m passionate about finding the hidden gems in each town. But what to do when a town is full of hidden gems?! A burst of inspiration came upon me – put together a Saugatuck Scavenger Hunt!

This Saugatuck Scavenger Hunt I put together is a fun, family friendly activity that can be done by anyone. Feel free to challenge yourself individually or break into small groups and make it a creative competition!

If you prefer to go directly to the sights on the scavenger hunt, I put the “answer key” here. This key contains a map and information on some of the sights.

The Rules

The primary motivation of the Saugatuck Scavenger Hunt is to point out interesting and cool sights that exist in downtown Saugatuck and Douglas. There’s a lot to take in (especially if it’s your first time visiting)! So use the list below and see how many you can find!

There are three tiers of sights to see with a corresponding point system. The higher the point level, the more difficult it is to spot or may require you to take an additional step such as “enjoy some lunch or dinner” at a restaurant. The sites are located in downtown Saugatuck or Douglas.

It’s up to you and your group to determine how long the scavenger hunt runs. It could last an hour or two or half a day.

If used as a friendly competition, the group with the most points wins. Other than that, you can set the specific parameters. I imagine smartphones or cameras playing a big role to “prove” you saw something.

Now without further ado, let’s get into the scavenger hunt!
