During the holidays, we always try to explore some of Michigan’s largest cities and towns. There’s always something magical about Christmastime in a city! And no matter how many times you visit a city during Christmas, there’s always something new to see as well as traditional favorites to experience over and over again. Detroit is one of the cities we continually are drawn to visiting during the holidays. That’s why I put together this Christmasy day trip to Downtown Detroit to help inspire your own visit!

One of my favorite things to do during the holiday season is visit some of what I consider the coolest Christmas things to do in Michigan! And while holiday parades and other big one day events can be fun, my family and I prefer visiting the attractions that run all season long! It makes planning easier knowing there are multiple days we can visit an attraction. Plus, these attractions are a lot less busy than one day festivals and parades.

round November of this past year, I told my family, “This is the year! The year we embrace winter!” I’ve always noticed there are two types of Michiganders – those that groan at the mention of winter and retreat inside to hibernate for months, and those that embrace winter. The later don’t mind bundling up and often find some of winter activity to make the season enjoyable. I’ve always wanted to do that! So this winter, we planned an unforgettable winter family getaway to one of Michigan’s snowiest towns – Ironwood!
