Day Trip to Ludington: Big Sable Lighthouse in the background and me in front

Day Trip to Ludington

Ludington is another gorgeous town on Michigan’s west coast boarding Lake Michigan. While a day trip to Ludington is perfect if you live not too far, I highly recommend an overnight stay or two as there’s a lot to explore here. Ludington is a town I frequently visited in the summer with friends growing up so it’s always fun returning to see familiar favorites (hello House of Flavors), and new things!

Also, this day trip is perfect in any season, but we visited during the spring.

Holland, Michigan is like a little slice of the Netherlands broke off and landed along the western Michigan coastline. Its historic and cultural connections with the Netherlands isn’t the only thing going for it. There are also a lot of places to go to be one with nature, whether it’s at a beach, park, or nature trail. If you’re looking for inspiration to plan your trip to West Michigan, here is a list of ten free things to do in Holland, Michigan!

Day Trip to Grand Ledge

My family’s latest day trip took us to Grand Ledge, where we had an EPIC time! This town, just west of Lansing is appropriately named as there are ‘ledges’ of ancient sedimentary rocks visible along the Grand River. Up until around a year ago, I didn’t know these ledges existed. Further, I didn’t know there are (at least) two different parks to view these rocks from. And that people can actually rock climb in one of these parks! If you’re looking for a unique and inspiring day trip to take in the lower peninsula, read on!
